Investor Agenda Founding Partners applaud UK announcement to mandate investor transition plans

03 November 2021: The founding partners of The Investor Agenda applaud the United Kingdom Government’s announcement on 2 November 2021 to become the world’s first Net Zero-aligned Financial Centre, mandating net-zero investor transition plans, and release the following statement:

The Investor Agenda has established a norm for investor transition plans with its Investor Climate Action Plans (ICAPS) Expectations Ladder and Guidance, released in May 2021. It is our hope that many more governments will make these expectations mandatory for all investors.  Without clear investor transition plans we cannot measure or achieve the scale and scope of investor action necessary to address the global climate crisis.  More than 330 investors, representing nearly $60 trillion which is over half of global assets under management, have already committed to publishing Investor Climate Action Plans through the Paris Aligned Initiative Asset Owner Commitment and the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative, to which they have signed on. The seven founding partners of the Investor Agenda are collectively supporting thousands more investors in the development of investor climate action plans worldwide through their regional investor networks.

The Investor Climate Action Plans Expectations Ladder and Guidance provides investors with clear expectations for issuing and implementing comprehensive climate action plans, including steps investors can take to support the goal of a net-zero emissions economy by 2050 or sooner. The framework aims to help investors navigate existing expectations and initiatives on climate change. It is inclusive and unique in that it sets out expectations for investors wherever they may be on their climate journey.
